Products

Antioxidant product range: BHA and BHT

Our portfolio focuses on a single category: phenolic antioxidants that delay the oxidative degradation of fats. Both products are supplied in feed and food grade.

BHA — Butylated Hydroxyanisole — Structural formulaOCH₃C(CH₃)₃OH

BHA

E320

tert-Butyl-4-hydroxyanisole (mixture of 2- and 3-isomers)

A phenolic antioxidant that delays oxidative degradation in fats and fat-bearing feed materials. Its thermal stability preserves activity through pelleting and extrusion.

  • Feed fats, tallow and vegetable oil blends
  • Fishmeal and fish oil
  • Poultry, cattle and small ruminant compound feeds

BHT — Butylated Hydroxytoluene — Structural formulaOHC(CH₃)₃(H₃C)₃CCH₃

BHT

E321

2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol

A cost-effective, high-purity phenolic antioxidant widely used in feed, fats and premixes. It extends shelf life by delaying colour and odour deterioration.

  • Fat-supplemented poultry and cattle compound feeds
  • Fishmeal, fish oil and animal fats
  • Pet food and aquaculture feeds

Frequently asked

Frequently asked questions on supply and application

What is the difference between BHA and BHT?
Both are phenolic antioxidants, but they behave differently. BHA partially volatilises at high temperature and carries through to the finished product, which is an advantage in thermal processes such as pelleting and extrusion. BHT is more economical and provides long-term protection under storage conditions. In practice the two are often used together, as they act synergistically.
At which stage should the antioxidant be added to feed?
An antioxidant is effective when added before the oxidation chain has started. It is therefore recommended to add it to the feed fat or the fat-bearing raw material at the earliest possible stage, ensuring homogeneous distribution. Dosing it dissolved in fat gives better distribution than adding it as a powder to compound feed.
In which packaging are BHA and BHT supplied?
As standard, 25 kg kraft bags; fibre drums are also available for BHA. Alternative packaging requirements can be discussed at the order stage.
Do you provide technical documents and certificates of analysis?
Yes. Every shipment is delivered with the technical data sheet (TDS), the safety data sheet (SDS) and the certificate of analysis (CoA) of the dispatched batch. These documents can also be requested before placing an order.
Are samples available?
Samples can be requested for trial and validation work. Simply state the product, grade and intended use in the contact form or by e-mail.
