Ethoxyquin (EMQ)
A quinoline-based antioxidant regarded as the global standard in the fishmeal and fish oil industry. Its use is subject to the current legislation of the target market.
Overview
Ethoxyquin (EMQ) is a quinoline-derived antioxidant that has long been used worldwide to prevent spontaneous heating and oxidative degradation of fishmeal and fish oil during transport and storage. It is particularly well proven in high-fat, fast-deteriorating fishmeal.
Its authorisation as a feed additive in the EU has been suspended since 2017, while it remains standard practice in fishmeal and aquaculture feeds in many markets outside the EU. This product is supplied only for markets and applications where the relevant national legislation permits its use.
